Dr. Marshall is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at McMaster University, as well as a consultant gastroenterologist at Hamilton Health Sciences in Hamilton Ontario. He completed his B.A. and M.D. at Queen’s University, and then undertook his residency training and M.Sc. in Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics at McMaster University. He is a Full Member of the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute. His publications include over 250 academic papers and book chapters and over 250 abstracts. Dr. Marshall is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (JCAG). Past honours include the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) Young Investigator Award (2008), the CAG Young Educator Award (2006), the CAG Clinical Professorship (2020) and Fellowship in both the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF, 2007) and the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAGF, 2020). Dr. Marshall’s clinical and research interests include inflammatory bowel disease, post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal bleeding, endoscopy, clinical trials, clinical epidemiology, health outcomes and health economics.

Dr. Cynthia Seow is Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary working as a Clinician Researcher in Gastroenterology. Her interests include special populations, (pediatric to adult transition, sexual health, preconception and pregnancy health), pharmacokinetics of advanced therapies and preventive care in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dr. Seow is the North American lead for the Global IBD in Pregnancy Consensus Guidelines (publication submitted) and has been involved in several international IBD guidelines. She maintains active research funding and has >100 peer reviewed publications. She is Associate Editor for Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, other editorial boards and regularly peer reviews. She enjoys mentorship and was chair of the Future Leaders in IBD (2021-2024), is on the Steering Committee of MILESTONE Canada (for IBD fellows), is a mentor for the TRIANGLE program and involved in the CAG CDDW Mentorship Café. Further, Dr. Seow is involved in initiatives by Crohn’s and Colitis Canada and the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation with the goal of increasing patient education.
